Anionic variation of diets on bone characteristics of broilers at 7 and 14 days of age R. Bras. Zootec.
Araújo,Gilson Mendes; Silva,José Humberto Vilar da; Vieites,Flávio Medeiros; Moraes,George Henrique Kling de; Souza,Rafael Barbosa de; Barbosa,Anderson de Almeida; Caramori Junior,João Garcia.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the chemical composition and bone strength of the tibiotarsus of broilers at 7 and 14 days of age. Bone percentages of collagenous protein (CPr), non-collagenous protein (NCPr) and minerals (calcium, phosphorus, potassium and sodium) were determined. The experiment utilized 650 male Cobb chicks at one day of age, fed corn and soybean meal-based diets. The experimental design was of random blocks with five treatments, five replicates and 26 birds per experimental unit. The treatments consisted of a basal diet supplementated with NH4Cl to obtain five levels (-50, 0, 50, 100 and 150 mEq/kg) of electrolyte balance (EB). The levels of EB influenced the following characteristics: ash and potassium content; Ca:P ratio...

Chlorine requirement for Japanese laying quails R. Bras. Zootec.
Costa,Fernando Guilherme Perazzo; Figueiredo Júnior,Jalceyr Pessoa; Lima,Denise Fontana Figueiredo; Goulart,Cláudia de Castro; Silva,José Humberto Vilar da; Lima,Matheus Ramalho de; Pinheiro,Sarah Gomes; Rodrigues,Valéria Pereira.
The objective of this study was to determine the chlorine nutritional requirement of Japanese Quails during the laying phase, based on performance and egg quality parameters. A total of 240 Japanese quails were distributed according to a randomized block design, with five treatments and six replicates, with 8 birds each. The experiment lasted 84 days, divided in four cycles of 21 days each. Treatments consisted of a basal diet formulated to meet the nutritional requirements, except for chlorine, and four supplementation levels with ammonium chloride, generating the levels 0.8; 1.6; 2.4; 3.2 and 4.0 g/kg. The parameters evaluated were: feed intake (g/bird/day), egg production (egg/bird/day), egg weight (g), egg mass (g), egg mass conversion (g/g),...

Different sodium levels and electrolyte balances in pre-starter diets for broilers Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Maiorka,A; Magro,N; Bartels,HAS; Kessler,AM; Penz Jr,AM.
An experiment with 400 one-day-old male chicks (Ross) was conducted to evaluate the effects of different Na levels (0.10, 0.22, 0.34 and 0.46%) and different cation/anion balances (Na+K-Cl) (100, 150, 200, 250 and 300 meq/kg) in pre-starter diets on broiler performance. The corn and soybean-based diets had 22% crude protein and 2,900 kcal/kg metabolizable energy and were fed ad libitum. Performance data showed a positive quadratic effect of increasing Na levels on feed and water consumption, weight gain and feed conversion. Na+K-Cl also had a quadratic influence on feed intake and weight gain. None of the effects tested affected the amount of water measured in excreta. Derivatives of obtained regression equations pointed to optimal Na levels of 0.45% for...

Nutritional potassium requirement for laying Japanese quails R. Bras. Zootec.
Costa,Fernando Guilherme Perazzo; Rodrigues,Ladyanne Raia; Goulart,Cláudia de Castro; Oliveira,Cleber Franklin Santos de; Rodrigues,Valéria Pereira; Silva,José Humberto Vilar da.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the potassium requirement for laying Japanese quails. Two hundred and forty quails were distributed in a randomized block design, with five treatments and six replicates, with eight birds each. The treatments consisted of a basal diet deficient in potassium (K) (2.50 g/kg), supplemented with potassium carbonate, to replace the inert, to reach levels of 2.50, 3.50, 4.50, 5.50 and 6.50 (g/kg) of K in the diet. There was a quadratic effect of K levels on feed intake, egg production, egg mass and feed conversion per egg mass and per egg dozen, estimating the requirements of 4.26, 4.41, 4.38, 4.43 and 4.48 (g/kg) of K diet, respectively. There was no significant effect on the levels of K in the diet on egg weight,...

TECHNIQUES TO MINIMIZE THE EFFECTS OF ACUTE HEAT STRESS OR CHRONIC IN BROILERS Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Rodrigues,MM; Garcia Neto,M; Perri,SHV; Sandre,DG; Faria Jr,MJA; Oliveira,PM; Pinto,MF; Cassiano,RP.
ABSTRACT High environmental temperature is limiting factor in broiler production. In order to minimize the undesirable consequences of acute or chronic heat stress, the techniques of fixed dietary electrolyte balance and early heat conditioning were evaluated. The objective of this study was to evaluate the possible interactions and effects of dietary electrolyte balance and early heat conditioning on feed intake, body weight, feed conversion ratio, mortality, energy bioeconomic index, fecal moisture, abdominal fat, and breast meat color (L*a*b*) of broilers submitted to chronic or acute heat stress. In total, 1280 chicks, were equally divided in experiment I (chronic heat stress, 6h/day at 32ºC from 35 to 39 d of age) and II (acute heat stress, 36 ºC for...
